Veronica Mia Verges

I am Veronica Mia Verges, a Licensed Professional Counselor and dedicated mental health practitioner with over 25 years of experience. As the proud founder of Specialized Counseling Solutions, LLC, since 2016 (formerly Nirvana Counseling Services), I am committed to providing compassionate, confidential, and professional support to individuals navigating personal and professional challenges.

With extensive expertise in mental health and substance abuse evaluations, I am a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), Internationally Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICAADC), and Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP). My specialties include SAP evaluations, employee assistance programs (EAP), and addiction counseling. My SAP qualifications ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, helping individuals return to work safely and successfully.

My approach to therapy is compassionate, dynamic, and down-to-earth. I integrate evidence-based treatment methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Seeking Safety, Psychoeducation, and Supportive Therapy. I take a strengths-based perspective, meeting each client where they are, fostering personal growth, healing, and empowerment. I believe each individual is the expert of their own experience, and with the right support, they can achieve long-lasting, holistic change. Building trust in a warm, collaborative manner is my priority, helping clients gain the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges.

Beyond my private practice, I served as the EAP counselor for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, where I provided critical support to employees through counseling, assessments, and wellness programs. I continue to work with Corporate Counseling Associates, Inc. as an EAP Counselor and have extensive experience coordinating mental health programs, including serving as a Program Coordinator for a Partial Hospitalization Program for Women. Throughout my career, I have provided care in schools, community hospitals, detox and rehabilitation centers, prisons, and county mental health agencies. My background also includes supervising multidisciplinary teams of clinicians and case managers, further demonstrating my leadership in the mental health field.

I earned my Master’s in Human Services with a concentration in Counseling from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania and my Bachelor's in Psychology from Alvernia College. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and hold additional certifications as a Sexual Assault Advocate (SAA) and Domestic Violence Advocate (DVA).

As a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community, I am committed to providing an inclusive, nonjudgmental space for all clients. I believe in fostering an authentic therapeutic relationship where individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered.

I am a human above all else, so you can expect a laid-back, genuine, and very real approach from me—with a dash of humor mixed in. Therapy should feel like a safe space where you can be yourself, and I am here to support you every step of the way.
